19th-21st July 2013 Weeting Steam Rally
It was a very hot and dusty weekend as Norfolk branch attended the Weeting Steam Engine Rally and Country Show with the club gazebo. In the camping field ‘Norton village’ seemed to spring up as many members took advantage of the ‘summer’ before it disappeared, and there was a good display of bikes on all days. This is a huge 3 day event set over several acres that has been going on since the 1970’s. There’s always lots to keep you amused from steam ploughing to dog agility, helicopter rides and donkey rides! Steam engines drove machinery to cut and haul wood while others demonstrated threshing and baling techniques. As well as motorcycles there were classic cars, military and commercial vehicles, tractors and fire engine displays. The weekend ended with Norfolk branch’s Tim Gostling winning the Weeting Rally Motorcycle Trophy with his yellow 1973 Mk2B Commando.
16th June 2013 Bury Motor Show
The Cars on the Green and Bury Motor Show has been combined into The New Bury Motor Show at Nowton Park in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. Lovely show in the avenues of trees in the park. Lots of variety including Ford Capris, Minis, Lotii, Audis, Nissans, Opels, Vauxhals, VDubs and only ONE Norton! Well done that man. But must try harder next year!
27th May 2013 Bradenham Village Fete
We had lovely blue skies, even if a bit chilly, but the sun shone over eight bikes displayed on the village green at Bradenham Fete on the late May Bank Holiday. There were motorbikes, cars, tractors, military vehicles and even a horse and cart to take you on a tour of the village. A lovely laid back day was had by all.
9th June 2013 Euston Rural Pastimes Show
After a few nice days of ‘Summer’ it went back to cooler weather for the Euston Show, which is a lovely one-day agricultural country fair event. Although chilly needing jumpers (!) it did stay dry for us. Nine bikes in total joined into the whole motorcycle display and some even had a ride around the ring to show off their machines. A nice day was had by all.
