19th-21st July 2013 Weeting Steam Rally
It was a very hot and dusty weekend as Norfolk branch attended the Weeting Steam Engine Rally and Country Show with the club gazebo. In the camping field ‘Norton village’ seemed to spring up as many members took advantage of the ‘summer’ before it disappeared, and there was a good display of bikes on all days. This is a huge 3 day event set over several acres that has been going on since the 1970’s. There’s always lots to keep you amused from steam ploughing to dog agility, helicopter rides and donkey rides! Steam engines drove machinery to cut and haul wood while others demonstrated threshing and baling techniques. As well as motorcycles there were classic cars, military and commercial vehicles, tractors and fire engine displays. The weekend ended with Norfolk branch’s Tim Gostling winning the Weeting Rally Motorcycle Trophy with his yellow 1973 Mk2B Commando.
